Katy grew up in Seattle, Washington, with a lifelong passion for music, playing piano, flute, and even drums. She earned her first bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Washington and spent several years working with at-risk youth. After living abroad teaching English in Taiwan and Prague, Katy returned to the U.S. to pursue an accounting degree. She worked for a Seattle-based nonprofit before transitioning to public accounting in 2018, earning her CPA license and focusing on auditing and assurance. In 2022, Katy moved to Portland, Oregon, and now calls the Columbia River Gorge home. She enjoys hiking, traveling, volunteering, and backyard birding in her free time. Katy has a strong passion for GAAP and financial statements, thriving on helping clients navigate complex technical issues and improve efficiencies in their accounting processes. She also values mentorship, drawing from her teaching background to train and develop staff.
