Sam was born and raised in the Longview, Washington area. He attended Lower Columbia College and later Washington State University Vancouver, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. Sam passed the Financial Accounting and Reporting section of the CPA exam while still in college—a testament to his dedication and drive. Sam's work ethic was shaped early through more than 500 volunteer hours at St. John Medical Center during high school, and by spending summers working at a local lumber mill. While those roles taught him the value of hard work, he now appreciates the climate-controlled comfort of Opsahl Dawson’s offices. A former high school cross-country runner, Sam continues to prioritize fitness through regular running and exercise. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family. He is also an avid collector and proud owner of over 300 vintage MAD Magazines.
