Tom Burke, CPA

Tom grew up among the evergreens of Belfair, Washington, where his childhood was filled with football, bike rides, and summertime leaps off the dock at low tide. When he wasn’t outdoors, he was likely playing guitar—a passion that initially led him to Central Washington University to pursue a degree in music. But while earning a minor in business, Tom discovered a strong interest in accounting and ultimately switched majors, graduating with his degree in 2011. In 2013, Tom and his wife moved to the scenic Oregon coast to launch his public accounting career in Florence. He quickly found his niche in business taxation and went on to earn his CPA license in 2019. After three years, he transitioned to a Portland-based firm, continuing to expand his experience with closely held businesses. In 2023, Tom joined the Opsahl Dawson team, drawn by the opportunity to work more directly with small business owners and help them navigate tax and business challenges. A lifelong learner, Tom is an avid reader—favoring non-fiction with a focus on business, leadership, and sales (though his wife occasionally convinces him to dive into fantasy and sci-fi). The two now live in the greater Portland area with their cat, enjoying the Pacific Northwest charm.
